On a whim, my sister and I decided to take our little selves down on the bus to watch "Dancer in the Dark" at Varsity. I read the reviews on the movie Friday at school and thought it would be something to see but I didn't expect much of it.
Boy was I wrong.
"Dancer in the Dark," has got to be thee most profound and emotionally disturbing movie I have watched in a while. I've decided that the movie will take over the place on my list of top movies. Sorry Kevin Smith, your numerous films are getting bumbed down and this movie is reigning as number one.
As first, I thought the movie was a load of artistic bullshit. Something that would come so typical with the whole varsity ambiance. But like I said earlier, I was really REALLY wrong.
The movie seems to hit every portion of my emotional spectrum while keeping me somehow fixated to the screen that to most would seem extremely bland and far fetched, but I still sat there.
By the end of the movie, so much of me was stirred up (as well as my sister) and by the time the both of us stepped out of the theater and into the night, tears stained our emotion ridden faces and we tried to settle down while walking to the stop light.
So what I'm basically getting down to is that everyone who is anyone should see this movie for yourself if not for me.
And that's all I have to say for tonight. Really.
